Biosan established a new method to detect hericenones in Lion's Mane
Lion's Mane ( Hericium erinaceus ) is a popular medicinal mushroom for its benefits in neuroprotection and enhancing cognitive function. The scientific research has certified that the hericenones from Lion’s mane fruiting body are major active compounds for brain health. Currently, the fast and precise menthod to detect the content of hericenones are not found in the industry. If we do not know the content of hericenones in our lion’s mane product, we are not sure if the product has the function in brain health.

We utilize the Agilent 1260 High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) system, employing Hericenone E, Hericenone C, Hericenone D, Hericene D, Ergosterol, Hericene A, and Hericene C as standard references. Through testing multiple batches of Hericium erinaceus harvested from various regions and at different times, we have observed considerable variation in composition. Moreover, the concentration of these compounds differs significantly in different batches of Lion’s Mane powder and extracts.
