Chinese National Standard “Lion’s mane mushroom” （Hericium erinaceus） Now Officially Published
The national standard of the People’s Republic of China titled “Lion’s mane mushroom” (GB/T 45882-2025) was officially issued on June 30th 2025. The standard was led by the Kunming Institute of Edible Fungi, affiliated with the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, and jointly drafted by Zhejiang Biosan Biotech Co., Ltd. along with many other contributing organizations. The standard was proposed and is administered by the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, and is scheduled to come into effect on January 1st , 2026.
This standard systematically specifies the quality requirements, inspection criteria, labeling, packaging, transportation, and storage provisions for Lion’s mane mushroom. It also outlines the corresponding inspection methods and applies to the production, distribution, and use of cultivated fresh Lion’s mane mushroom, dried products, and Lion’s mane mushroom powder. The standard specifies the sensory and physicochemical criteria for various grades of Lion’s mane mushroom products, with particular emphasis on quality control indicators such as the allowable limits for spoilage, insect infestation, and physical damage.

Zhejiang Biosan Biotech Co., Ltd. took the lead in drafting and establishing the group standard “Lion’s mane mushroom Powder and Lion’s mane mushroom Extracts” (T/ZHCA 103-2021) on June 16, 2021.
The publication and implementation of the national standard for “Lion’s mane mushroom” and the group standard for “Lion’s mane mushroom Powder and Lion’s mane mushroom Extracts” will help improve the quality of Lion’s mane mushroom products and promote the sustainable, healthy development of China’s Lion’s mane mushroom industry.
